Description: Battle of Waterloo - The Battle of Waterloo, fought on the 18th of June 1815, near Waterloo, Belgium. It was a decisive engagement that ended Napoleon's reign and the Napoleonic Wars. It pitted Napoleon's French forces against a coalition of British, Prussian, Dutch, and German troops led by the Duke of Wellington and Marshal Blücher. The battle resulted in a crushing defeat for Napoleon, marking the end of his imperial ambitions and leading to his exile on St. Helena.
Description: American Revolution - Paul Revere was a silversmith in colonial Boston. He is famous for his midnight ride to warn colonists about the British troops who were poised to attack. On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere rode from Boston to Lexington, Massachusetts. He wanted to warn patriot leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams that British troops were coming to arrest them. Contrary to popular legend, he did not shout "The British are coming", as most colonists still saw themselves as British. Revere warned people that "the regulars" (the British army soldiers) were coming out.

Description: The Old Contemptibles Association was founded by Captain JP Danny, RA, on 25 June 1925. Membership was limited to veterans of the regular army who had served in the British Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders within range of enemy artillery during the period 5 August to 22 November 1914 and had thus taken part in the desperate early battles and retreats before the advancing German forces, before the tide turned and the allies counterattacked at the Battle of the Marne. The Association took its name from a notorious Order of the Day issued by the Kaiser in August 1914 which referred disparagingly to Sir John French’s ‘contemptible little army’. The derogatory title was adopted enthusiastically by soldiers in the BEF.
Description: RAF Roundel - Used by units under South East Asia Command and in the CBI theatre mid-1942 – 1946. Red removed to avoid confusion with Japanese hinomaru. Initially red was overpainted with white but this compromised the camouflage and the normal roundel blue was mixed 50:50 with white.
