Description: Southwestern Bell traces its roots back to The Missouri and Kansas Telephone Company, which was founded in 1882. It was consolidated under a single management unit of the Bell System with Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company of Texas-Arkansas, Pioneer Telephone and Telegraph Company of Oklahoma, and The Bell Telephone Company of Missouri—on March 1, 1912. These companies comprised the "Southwestern System" of the Bell System. The latter three companies were legally merged into Missouri and Kansas Telephone Company in 1917, which was renamed Southwestern Bell. This '70s design is a replica of a tee technicians were given to promote the company's customer service.
Description: Cable TV came to Manhattan in the early '70s in an attempt to deal with poor signals around the tall buildings, but cable didn't reach all of New York City until the mid '80s. While there were plenty of early cable companies serving the market, Plaza Cable wasn't one of them. Plaza is a fictional NYC cable company that originated in a '90s sitcom where the cable guy was trying to get into an apartment to turn off premium channels that were mistakenly added to their plan. The resident turns the tables, forcing the cable guy to experience what it's like waiting on them, all while enjoying his premium cable channels.

Description: The Z Channel was one of the first pay television stations in the United States. Launched in 1974 from Los Angeles, California, this station was known for its devotion to the art of cinema due to the eclectic choice of films by the programming chief, Jerry Harvey. It also popularized the use of letterboxing on television, as well as showing 'director's cut' versions of films (which is a term popularized after Z Channel's showing of Heaven's Gate). Z Channel's devotion to cinema and choice of rare and important films had an important influence on such directors as Robert Altman, Quentin Tarantino, and Jim Jarmusch.
