This is another in my series of wet in wet paintings done all at once by increasing the pigment with each additional layer to prevent runbacks or blossoms. Description: Quebec, Canada, drawn by hand in ink and watercolor: stone houses with steep tin roofs and bright shutters along a narrow cobbled street, the great turreted hotel standing on the cliff above and a horse carriage. Loose shaky pen lines, patchy translucent color and wide areas of bare cream paper give it the charm of a page torn out of a sketchbook on holiday. Made for travelers, collectors of places and everyone who still thinks about Quebec.
