Car Driver Socks
Description: While organized drag racing came about in 1951, it was in the early '60s that the big three started paying attention. Detroit began quietly building stock-looking cars stuffed full of high-performance parts and no factory warranty, aimed squarely at taking drag strips by storm. With this new breed of off the lot drag racers, increasing numbers of people were suddenly able to get into drag racing without having to build a car from scratch, and boy did they ever. Once the bug had bitten them, they were all in as drag nuts and their stock racers began the never-ending modification process that all hot rodders go through in pursuit of speed.
Description: The Jaguar E-Type or the Jaguar XK-E (North American market) was manufactured by the British company Jaguar cars between 1961 and 1975 and was capable of 150 MPH. This Illustration is of the series 1, manufactured between 1961 and 1968. The Series 1 was available as a two seater Fixed Head Coupé and as a two seater convertible "roadster". A "2+2" or four-seater version of the coupé, with a lengthened wheelbase, was released several years later. On its release in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it "the most beautiful car ever made"
Description: Robert Glenn Johnson Jr., better known as Junior Johnson, was a NASCAR driver of the 1950s and 1960s. He won 50 NASCAR races in his career before retiring in 1966. Description: In 1982's Six Pack, Kenny Rogers plays Brewster (Brew) Baker, an itinerant racing-car driver. Notwithstanding Brew's nickname, the six pack of the title refers to cute kids, not to beers. Cute kids who are orphans, whose specialties are either stripping or repairing racing cars, depending on how they feel about the owner. The kids steal Brew's engine when the film begins, but pretty soon he becomes a father figure to them and they fall into working as his pit crew. It's about as '80s as they come and super family friendly, but a good watch nonetheless.

Description: Short track racing is where stock car racing got its start after leaving the back road events behind in favor of organized and regulated competition. Unlike the larger tracks, short-track events offer fans and competitors close racing, where the bodies of the cars actually rub against one another on oval tracks of less than one mile in length. Known as the 'minor leagues' of racing, this is where aspiring drivers, mechanics, and tuners can get into racing on a budget, and have a ton of fun doing it. Most professional drivers gets started short trackin' before making their way from these rural bullrings to the superspeedways.
Description: North Wilkesboro Speedway is a short oval racetrack located on Route 421, 80 miles north of Charlotte. The speedway opened its doors on May 18, 1947, as a dirt track with the first official event promoted as a modified race, including heat races and a feature event. While an attendance of about 3,000 people was expected, a crowd in excess of 10,000 showed up to see one of the famous Flock brothers compete (and ultimately win the race). The track is just 5/8 of a mile around and features a unique uphill backstretch and downhill frontstretch that played into it's reputation as one of the fastest short-tracks of the '40s and '50s. The original dirt oval was paved in 1957 and continued to operate until the track's closure in 1996.
