Description: This unique yin yang design by artist Jeff Bartels features two stylized koi fish. A traditional Japanese fish appears in both sides of this symbol for natural balance. The scales of the fish are defined by the negative space in between small half circles that run down the length of the bodies. The simple fins are painted a solid color that mirrors the opposite side if the yin yang. This stylish pattern is a beautiful interpretation of this ancient symbol.
Description: A stylised pair of Koi Carp arranged symmetrically around a bright central flower, decorated with soft Scandinavian Folk Art detailing. The bold patches of red, orange and white contrast against the dark bodies, creating a balanced decorative motif suitable for stickers, prints and apparel. The design highlights clean symmetry, warm colours and simple shapes in a bright folk aesthetic. Artwork by heidiannemorris © first published on 15 July 2026, 20:58 BST. Description: The Carp were founded in 1949, four years after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The team struggled to find success in their early years and faced serious financial issues, but narrowly escaped merger and contraction plans through the fundraising of Hiroshima citizens and fans. The team found stability over the next two decades, eventually rising to their first Central League pennant in 1975, and winning the 1979 Japan Series. In appreciation of their emergence alongside the reconstruction of Hiroshima, the Carp are regarded "as a symbol of Hiroshima's recovery".
