Franz Krausz (1905-1998) was one of Israel’s most accomplished poster artists. Austrian-born, he made Aliyah to Tel Aviv in 1934. His work for Egged furthered tourist promotion and represented the modernist graphic design style of the Yishuv period. The poster’s Art Deco–influenced graphics and clear slogan emphasize the Egged brand and reliable bus transport for travelers in Erez Israel. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.

Steven Pesach Ir-Sahi (1896-1968) was a Hungarian-born Israeli graphic designer, painter, and typographer who played a pivotal role in shaping visual culture in early Israeli society. After making Aliyah from Budapest, he became one of the leading figures in poster design in Israel. The poster is a political message from the Socialist Poale Zion party, promoting Aliyah. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.

Designed by David Schneuer. Public domain, via PPPA. David Schneuer (1905–1988) was born in Przemysl, Poland and made Aliyah to Tel Aviv in 1933. He was a painter, stage designer, and graphic artist. Schneuer’s artistic style ranged from German Expressionism to local Israeli modernism. This lotto game was designed to teach children geography, landmarks, and scenes of everyday life in Israel. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.

Otte Wallish (1906-1977) was born in Austria-Hungary, and Ernst Mechner (1895-1956) was born in Germany. Wallish had a graphic design studio in Tel Aviv where he designed Israeli’s first postage stamps and many iconic posters encouraging Aliyah. Mechner designed posters for the JNF, Histadrut, Tnuva and others. They are jointly credited on many designs. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.
