Description: • The Concept: The style originated in 1969 when Dennis Johnson entered a custom model car into the Detroit Autorama, combining a small 1/43-scale car body with an oversized 1/24-scale engine. • MPC Model Kits: In 1971, the Model Products Corporation (MPC) commercialized the concept into a popular line of plastic model kits. • Full-Scale Tourers: Car show promoter Bob Larivee commissioned custom builders Chuck Miller (Styline Customs) and Steve Tansy to build full-scale, non-running rolling display vehicles for the International Championship Auto Shows
