Description: Humpback whales can be found in all of the major oceans. Two distinct migratory populations of humpback whales have been identified off of the east and west coasts of Australia. Here they feed mainly on krill and copepods, but they will also eat small schooling fish, including juvenile salmon and other juvenile fish species. While humpback populations have partially recovered after being hunted nearly to extinction, they are still susceptible to danger from getting tangled in fishing nets, noise pollution, and collisions with ships.
