Description: The Topeka Owls was the primary name of the minor league baseball franchise based in Topeka, Kansas from 1939–1942 and again from 1946–1954. The Topeka minor league team, starting in the 1860s, had other names over the years as well, including the Capitals, Hawks, Senators, Jayhawks, Kaws, and Populists.
Description: The Daytona Tortugas are a Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the Single-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. They are located in Daytona Beach, Florida, and play their home games at Jackie Robinson Ballpark; opened in 1914, the park seats 4,200 people. The club was previously known as the Daytona Cubs from 1993 to 2014 when they were an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The team has won six Florida State League championships: in 1995, 2000, 2004 (co-champions with the Tampa Yankees), 2008, 2011, and 2013.
Description: Eckford of Brooklyn, or simply Eckford, was an American baseball club from 1855 to 1872. When the Union Grounds opened on May 15, 1862 for baseball in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it became the first enclosed baseball grounds in America. Three clubs called the field on the corner of Marcy Avenue and Rutledge Street home; however, the Eckford of Brooklyn were the most famous tenant. They played more games than any other club that year (7) and won the "national" championship, repeating the feat in 1863. During that two year period, the Eckfords won 22 straight matches which was the longest undefeated and untied streak to date. In the late 1860s, they were one of the pioneering professional clubs, although probably second to Mutual of New York.
Description: Founded by Herman Steinlauf in 1916 as a music store, Herman’s World of Sporting Goods was a large chain of sporting goods stores in the United States. At one time, there was a gentleman’s agreement with west coast competitor, Oshman’s Sporting Goods, that the Herman’s chain would stay east of the Mississippi, while Oshman’s would be dominant on the west coast. Later on, Herman’s did expand west with the acquisition of Salt Lake City-based Sunset Sports Centers, although this was short-lived. By 1992, Herman’s had 259 stores in 35 states, but the entered into bankruptcy in 1993, first closing stores in the New York metropolitan area, then the New York City stores.
Description: The St. Louis Browns were a Major League Baseball team that originated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Milwaukee Brewers. A charter member of the American League (AL), the Brewers moved to St. Louis, Missouri, after the 1901 season, where they played for 52 years as the St. Louis Browns. After the 1953 season, the team moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where it became the Baltimore Orioles. As of April 2023, there are only three living former St. Louis Browns players: Billy Hunter, Ed Mickelson, and Frank Saucier.

But before the team moved to Fenway Park, they were known as the Boston Bees, after Babe Ruth's Buzzing Bees. Afterwards they moved to Milwaukee (and became the Milwaukee Braves). Then in 1966 they were relocated to Atlanta, where they were renamed the Atlanta Braves. Description: The Shreveport Captains (1971–2000) were a professional minor-league baseball team based in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the United States. They were affiliated with the California Angels (1971–72), Milwaukee Brewers (1973–74), Pittsburgh Pirates (1975–78) and San Francisco Giants (1979–2000). The team was later changed to the Shreveport Swamp Dragons (2001–02) and then moved to Frisco, Texas, to become the Frisco RoughRiders.
Description: The Reno Silver Sox were a professional baseball team based in Reno, Nevada, in the United States. They were a member of the North Division of the independent Golden Baseball League, which is not affiliated with either Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball. From 2006 to 2008, they played their home games at William Peccole Park, on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno.
