Description: On September 8, 2002, just a year after the 9/11 attacks, then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice said “We don’t want the smoking gun of Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction or WMD to be a mushroom cloud.” America would invade Iraq on March 19, 2003 based on continued accusations from the Bush Administration that Saddam Hussein was in possession of WMDs, but after taking control of the nation, 18-months of extensive searches turned up nothing.
