Description: Wherever there is a great triumph, there is usually even greater tragedy. Such is the case with the Los Angeles hardcore-punk outfit known as the Germs, who, in four short years, lived dangerously, playing fast, brash rock 'n' roll with a much dirtier and nastier edge than their contemporaries; an edge that would prove to be sharp and deadly for the bands' confused and drug addicted lead singer. They only released a single studio album in 1979, but it was a banger stuffed with 17 songs dripping with aggression, despair, and pure rage. Titled (GI), the all-black cover with an enigmatic blue circle design echoed the Germs' stripped-down aesthetic perfectly and would be synonymous with the band until their untimely undoing in 1980.

The album is considered groundbreaking in being the first of its kind to combine the hard, stripped-down sound of punk rock with American roots music. Description: Mr. Lady Records (or Mr. Lady Records and Video) was a San Francisco-based lesbian-feminist independent record label and video art distributor. Founded in 1996 in Durham, North Carolina, the label aimed to redress what they saw as a lack of feminist record labels at the time, and was considered queercore's strongest label. As well as a range of recording artists, the label was also heavily involved in events that promoted feminist thinking and music. Mr. Lady closed down in June 2004.

Description: English band X-Ray Spex was one of the first punk bands not only fronted by a woman, but by a biracial woman, whose stage name was Poly Styrene. With Styrene leading the group, X-Ray Spex brought a different, more expansive, and inclusive, Punk message and sound to the masses. X-Ray Spex’s music was not the fast, aggressive punk that many of their counterparts in the scene were creating. Rather, the band offered a more snarky, socially aware sound that was upbeat and contained pop stylings that connected with new wave music. Germfree Adolescents is the band's 1978 debut album that contained the UK hit singles "The Day the World Turned Dayglo" (No. 23), "Identity" (No. 24), and "Germ Free Adolescents" which reached No. 18 in November 1978.
Description: Formed in London in 1976, Generation X (later known as Gen X) was an English punk rock band that released six singles that made the UK singles chart sand two albums that charted on the UK albums charts. This design is based on the Valley of the Dolls cover, the band's second studio album, released in 1979. The record was Generation X's second long-play release, and saw the band transitioning from its start in the London punk rock scene of the late-'70s into a more mainstream rock sound, with the incorporation of musical influences ranging from glam rock, progressive rock, and traditional American rock 'n roll.

Description: The Dead Boys' 1977 debut is among the greatest punk albums ever made, so a follow-up was going to be tough. The band's label was convinced they had commercial potential, so to insure success, they brought in Felix Pappalardi to produce their 1978 follow up, We Have Come For Your Children. Pappalardi was best known as the bassist for rock band Mountain, and his job was to reign in the Boys. Unfortunately, he was so successful that he ruined a lot of what was great about the Dead Boys. Recording was problematic, and sessions were halted when the band became convinced that Pappalardi didn't understand their music. The band tried, but were unsuccessful to get another producer; so the album was pushed out, and they broke up a short time later.
