Hebrew Socks
Description: “Eat Sheep Cheese From Tnuva Farms.” (Hebrew.) Circa 1935. Published by Tnuva Central Cooperative for the Marketing of Agricultural Produce in Israel, Ltd. Designed by Otte Wallish, Ernst Mechner, Public domain, via PPPA. Otte Wallish (1906-1977) was born in Austria-Hungary, and Ernst Mechner (1895-1956) in Germany. Wallish had a graphic design studio in Tel Aviv where he designed Israeli’s first postage stamps and many posters for Tnuva and Osem. Mechner designed posters for the JNF, Histadrut, and Tnuva. They are jointly credited on many posters. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.
Description: This redesign of the classic Phoenix Hebrew Academy logo features the letters "PHA" filled with meaningful words symbolizing different aspects and themes of the school from early education to middle grades, Jewish values and traditions, character traits and academic ideas, to so much more. The green cactus adds a distinctive Arizona touch, while the silhouette of the star is a nod to the flag of Israel, and the curved line above it all represents our mountains, symbolizing growth and resilience.
