Description: “After 2,000 years, the homeland is ours again.” (Hebrew.) Circa 1935. Promoting settlement in the Land of Israel. Designed and self-published by Steven Pesach Ir-Sahi. Public domain, via PPPA. Steven Pesach Ir-Sahi (1896-1968) was a Hungarian-born Israeli graphic designer, painter, and typographer who played a pivotal role in shaping visual culture in early Israeli society. After making Aliyah from Budapest, he became one of the leading figures in poster design in Israel. The poster is a political message from the Socialist Poale Zion party, promoting Aliyah. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.
