Description: “Adloyada, 1933, Tel Aviv” (Hebrew.) Advertising poster for Adloyada (“until one doesn’t know”) Purim parade in Tel-Aviv, Israel, 1933. Strod Publishing, Tel Aviv. Original concept by Avraham Aldema. Public domain. Avraham Aldema (1884-1963) was born in Berdichev, Russian Empire. He made Aliyah in 1906, working as a graphic designer and art teacher at Gymnasia Herzliya in Tel Aviv. The poster features clean, stylized modernist graphics, simplified forms, and a limited high-contrast color palette. It combines Jewish elements with the symbols of Carnival. Using a variety of graphic design tools, I created a restored and enlarged reproduction of this historical Israeli poster, based on a rare photo of the original poster in an archive.
Description: Most people do not know the name of Yasuke much less that there were many black Israelites in Japan at the most chaotic time. This design features one of the most powerful and mysterious warriors to ever swing a sword in Japan. Yuske or Yasuke was said to come from Africa and was already incredibly strong at a young age. Israelites were scattered to the 4 corners of the earth and this prophecy reached all the way to Japan.
