Description: World War 2 - HMS Belfast is a Town-class light cruiser that was built for the Royal Navy. Commissioned in early August 1939 shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, Belfast was initially part of the British naval blockade against Germany. In June 1944, Belfast took part in Operation Overlord supporting the Normandy landings. In June 1945, she was redeployed to the Far East to join the British Pacific Fleet, arriving shortly before the end of the Second World War.
Description: The frigate Gloucester is a Speaker-class third rate, commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS Gloucester after the restoration of the English monarchy in 1660. The ship was ordered in December 1652, built at Limehouse in East London, and launched in 1654. The warship was conveying James Stuart, Duke of York to Scotland, when on 6 May 1682 she struck a sandbank off the Norfolk coast, and quickly sank. The announcement of the finding of Gloucester was made in 2022, having had to wait until after the ship's identity was confirmed, but also to protect the site, which is located in international waters.

All of the crew survived her sinking and were eventually rescued in 1916 after using the ship's boats to travel to Elephant Island.

Commissioned in March 1941, her short career included fighting the German battleship Bismarck, carrying Winston Churchill across the Atlantic, and getting sunk by Japanese land based aircraft off Malaya on the 10th of December 1941.
Description: John Brown and Company of Clydebank was a British marine engineering and shipbuilding firm. It built many notable and world-famous ships including RMS Lusitania, RMS Aquitania, HMS Hood, HMS Repulse, RMS Queen Mary, RMS Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Elizabeth 2. At its height, from 1900 to the 1950s, it was one of the most highly regarded, and internationally famous, shipbuilding companies in the world. However thereafter, along with other UK shipbuilders, John Brown's found it increasingly difficult to compete with the emerging shipyards in Eastern Europe and the far East. In 1968 John Brown's merged with other Clydeside shipyards to form the Upper Clyde Shipbuilders consortium, but that collapsed in 1971.
