He made Aliya in 1933 and studied at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. With Ze’ev Lipman, he co-founded the ROLI Studio. The poster was part of a campaign to address the acute housing shortage for new immigrants to Israel. Meir Gur-Arieh (1891–1951) was born in Bobruisk, Russia. He studied art in Russia and then at Bezalel in Jerusalem. He uses the imagery of “Wellsprings,” an art style that symbolizes the spiritual and physical renewal of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. "Wellsprings" is a metaphor for a bountiful and inexhaustible source of something. A man faces the sea, reaching for a homeland. This silkscreened poster was a direct recruitment/appeal to Jewish youth to support the establishment and defense of settlement outposts, under the auspices of Keren Hayesod and youth movements. Meir Gur-Arieh (1891–1951) was born in Bobruisk, Russia, to a Hasidic family. He studied art in Russia before continuing studies at Bezalel in Jerusalem, and later, taught at Bezalel. Gur-Arieh produced numerous agricultural and promotional posters for Eretz Israel, featuring Jewish holiday imagery and promoting local produce.
