Description: Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, born James Wiley Smith Reiher (1943–2017), was a Fijian professional wrestler known for his high-flying aerial maneuvers and charismatic persona. He gained fame in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) during the 1980s, captivating audiences with his daredevil style and iconic Superfly Splash finishing move. Snuka's impact on the wrestling industry and his memorable feuds solidified his status as a legendary figure in sports entertainment.
Description: For as popular as Jimmy Snuka has been in his career, it is hard to believe that he was never WWE Champion. Snuka is right up on top of that list of great men to never climb to the top of the mountain. What Snuka did climb to instead was the top of a steel cage. In one of his most memorable moments and one of the greatest era-defining moments, Snuka climbed 20 feet to the top of the cage and tried to splash on then-WWE Champion Bob Backlund in Madison Square Garden. Snuka missed, and Backlund escaped from the cage to retain his title. Snuka was the first real high-flier in WWE history, even if he never actually won anything in the promotion. Snuka is one of the most respected Hall of Famers for that very reason.
Description: On October 17 1983, in Madison Square Gardens, Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka delivered his signature superfly splash from the top of the steel cage down onto Don Muraco, who had already won the match. Despite the loss, the unbelievable feat at a height of 15 feet is nothing short of legendary! Fiji Power!
Description: Snuka wrestled for several promotions from the 1970s to 2010s. He was best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in the 1980s to where he was credited with introducing the high-flying wrestling style. He was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1996, and was the inaugural ECW World Heavyweight Champion (a title he held twice) in Eastern Championship Wrestling (later Extreme Championship Wrestling). His children, Sim Snuka and Tamina Snuka, are both professional wrestlers.
