Description: C.J. Gayfer migrated to Mobile, Alabama, from Southwold, England after the Civil War and opened a department store bearing his name in downtown Mobile in 1879. By the time of his death in 1915, Gayfer's employed 150 people, averaged over $500,000 in annual sales, and Gayfer had become well known for his philanthropy and was one of the earliest proponents of employee benefits. Gayfer's expanded into the Western Gulf States in the early '60s, and by the end of the '70s, Gayfer's was becoming one of the largest department store chains in the Southern US. The apostrophe in the company name was eventually dropped, rebranding as Gayfers until the chain's closing in 1998.

Description: Shuffle your feet and lose your County Seat! Hustle on up with this classic design. The first County Seat store opened in Minneapolis in 1973 and was an offspring of the grocery store chain Super Valu Stores. County Seat grew to be one of the nation's largest mall-based specialty retailers of casual wear for teens and young adults with more than 630 jean stores in 46 states. Jeans and jean jackets account for more than 50 percent of the company's sales in 1993. Teens do their shopping in the malls, according to County Seat research, and the company expected its growth to continue with the growth of regional malls. The chain closed in 1999 following Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Description: Hill Valley is a fictional town in California that serves as the setting of the Back to the Future trilogy and its animated spin-off series. In the trilogy, Hill Valley is seen in four different time periods – 1885, 1955, 1985, and 2015 – as well as in a dystopian alternate 1985.[1] The films contain many sight gags, verbal innuendos and detailed set design elements, from which a detailed and consistent history of the area can be derived. The city name "Hill Valley" is a joke, being an oxymoron. However, an early script for Back to the Future Part II mentioned that Hill Valley was named after its founder, William "Bill" Hill.
