Description: Chosokabe mon from the Japanese shogunate. The mon is an emblem to designate a family, clan or even an organization. The kamon is used specifically to identify a family. The mon is similar to the coat of arms from European heraldic tradition. Although, there is a big difference, the mon stays clean and minimalist in design. European crests tend to get very complicated by combining other family crests over the generations. Mon and Kamon are usually designed using a roundel containing a abstracted, stylized image of an object. This object can be a plant, an animal, a tool, or anything you fancy. This will lead to a large amount of categories containing many variations of a particular object.

Description: The Sluis Van Shipyards were a series of orbital shipbuilding complexes stationed over the planet Sluis Van. The facility was considered to be the best of its kind in the Outer Rim Territories. However, because the Sluissi found shipbuilding to be akin to a form of art (in addition to their rather ponderous system of bureaucracy), they were also considered to be one of the slowest shipyards in the galaxy. The shipyards were at one point built up to encompass an entire world, similar to the Kuat Drive Yards and Mon Calamari Shipyards of later millennia.
Description: This is the Ageha Cho (揚羽蝶) mon, meaning "swallowtail butterfly". Mon (紋), also known as monsho (紋章) or kamon (家紋), are Japanese emblems used to decorate and identify an individual, a family, or an institution or business entity (e.g. Mitstubisi logo). Japanese Mon are similar to the badges and coats of arms in European heraldic tradition, which likewise are used to identify individuals and families. Mon are often referred to as crests in Western literature.
Description: This is a mon I saw on the hanten of the Komagata team during the recent Sanja Matsuri. The Sanja Matsuri is one of the three largest Shinto festivals of Tokyo. The mon looks like an ancient wooden wheel where the rim is fat and made in sections. It creates a pleasing geometric pattern. The mon is similar to the coat of arms from European heraldic tradition. Although, there is a big difference, the mon stays clean and minimalistic in design. European crests tend to get very complicated by combining other family crests over the generations.
