Description: A kiwi bird is a bird in the family Apterygidae. Kiwis are native to New Zealand, and there are five recognized kiwi species living today, all of which are endangered. These small brown birds are also the national bird of New Zealand. The kiwi is so closely associated with the national identity of New Zealand that New Zealanders sometimes refer to themselves as “kiwis.” If you’re wondering whether the bird or the fruit came first, the answer is that the kiwi bird preceded the kiwifruit. “Kiwi” is a Maori word which imitates the call of the bird.
Description: Miromiro is the Maori name for the North Island Tomtit. Drawn incorporating Maori Koru patterns. The koru (Māori for “loop”) is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. Draw with vector, the back ground is a forest brown inspired by the natural habitat of the small bird of the New Zealand bush.
Description: These are Australia's native penguins - Fairy Penguins, also called Little Penguins because they are so small and adorable. They live on Australian shores as far as Sydney Harbour. What would penguins talk about? They would tell fishing stories, of course! Hence the title of the original painting - "I caught a fish this big"! This design is created from my original watercolour artwork, which was based on my own reference photos. Totally unique!
