Description: Back in the 1700's Ocean City, NJ was known as Pecks Beach. The island was used for fishing, hunting and grazing cattle and was considered uninhabitable. In fact it wasn't until 1883 that the first bridge was built until then the only way to get to the island was by ferry. It certainly is a different story today. Ocean City is a popular summer resort town with beautiful beaches and a great boardwalk.
Description: The Cape May NJ lighthouse has been in continuous operation since 1859. To get to the top of the lighthouse you will need to climb 199 steps. The Cape May lighthouse was built with two walls. The outside wall is conical in shape and the inner wall is cylindrical. They are strong enough to withstand winds several times hurricane force.
