Pilsner Socks
Description: The Pilsener Brewing Co., once located at the southwest corner of Clark Ave. and W. 65th St. in Cleveland, was established by Bohemian brewer Wenzel Medlin in 1892 and was incorporated the following year. The corner site of the Pilsener Brewing Co. was once known as Pilsener Square. The name Pilsener comes from the Czech city of Pilsen, where the light Bohemian lager beer was first made. In 1917 Pilsener produced 4 different brews: P.O.C. (which stood for "Pilsner of Cleveland"), Gold Top, Extra Pilsener Beer, and Pilsener Dark Lager; consumers received coupons for the return of empty bottles and exchanged them for premiums in a Pilsener catalog. Brewery operations were interrupted by prohibition, but bottling resumed on 2 May 1933.
Description: H. & J. Pfaff Brewing Co. opened in 1893 and closed in 1901 it was open for 8 years. This brewery was open for quite a few years so it is easier to find items and advertising than some breweries that did not last long, this can make the Breweriana items less valuable. As a Pre-Prohibition Brewery, any advertising items or collectibles are likely to be valuable and desirable to collectors as they tend to be hard to find. H. & J. Pfaff Brewing Co. was in an active brewing city. Boston, MA was listed as having 48 breweries, which is quite a few. Sometimes a large number of breweries can lead to an active collecting community that will be willing to pay more for breweriana items than other collectors.
Description: Quandt Brewing Co. Inc. opened in 1933 and closed in 1942 it was open for 9 years. Quandt's Brewing was active during Prohibition which makes it an oddity. Some breweries were able to stay in business by producing "near-beer" which was very low alcohol, some switched over to bottling sodas or other beverages, some became Ice-houses or other related businesses. Quandt Brewing Co. Inc. was in an active brewing city. Troy, NY was listed as having 34 breweries, which is quite a few. Sometimes a large number of breweries can lead to an active collecting community that will be willing to pay more for breweriana items than other collectors.
Description: This ex-brewery site of the Lederer Brewery (trade mark being a Crocodile) is now a large beer garden with restaurant bars and function rooms. Whilst it gives the impression that Lederer is still brewing its own beers, I am led to understand their beers are now brewed at the Tucher brewery in Furth, but these premises keep up the name and tradition. Lederer beers can also be tried at various bars in Nuremberg, just look for the Crocodile sign hanging outside a bar.

Description: The Combine Honnete Ober Advancer Mercantiles or CHOAM, essentially controls all economic affairs across the cosmos, although it relies upon the Spacing Guild for transport across space due to the Guild's monopoly on faster-than-light travel. CHOAM touched almost all products the Guild will transport, from art forms to technology and of course melange. Many Houses depend on CHOAM profits, and an enormous proportion of those depend on melange. CHOAM directorships were the real evidence of political power in the Imperium, passing with the shifts of voting strength within the Landsraad as it balanced itself against the Emperor and his supporters.
Description: Phillip Jung Brewing Co opened in 1896 and closed in 1920 it was open for 24 years. Items from breweries of this age tend to be more common and less valuable than some breweries. Early items can still be valuable as can rarer types of items. As a Pre-Prohibition Brewery, any advertising items or collectibles are likely to be valuable and desirable to collectors as they tend to be hard to find. Phillip Jung Brewing Co was in an active brewing city. Milwaukee, WI was listed as having 74 breweries, which is quite a few. Description: Monarch Brewing was founded in 1890 as the Josef Hladovec Brewing Company in Chicago. In 1898 Monarch became part of the United Breweries Company along with twelve other local breweries. The new United Brewery managed to hold off failure for a few years but consolidating and cutting expenses, but the parent company was still losing money and in 1903 it filed for bankruptcy and reorganization.
