Misguided environmentalism has ironically led to many nuclear power plants being closed forever without replacement, even though nuclear power generation is the greenest, cleanest, safest and most sustainable existing form of energy. Renewables like wind and solar can't power the world without causing massive damage to the environment (and even then you'll need coal power plants as backup). Climate change (a.k.a. global warming, climate crisis) will not be stopped by renewables but rather accelerated because they actually lead to increased greenhouse gas emissions. Only nuclear power will reduce our collective fossil fuel footprint.
