Description: The Mermaid Inn is a centuries old hostelry in the centre of the historic town of Rye on the Kent Sussex border. The town sits on a hill overlooking what was once the lawless Romney Marsh, renowned for stories of smuggling. As you sit taking tea (or perhaps something a little stronger) you sense the history oozing out the ancient oak beaks.
