Previous to being in San Diego, the team was known as the New York Raiders, New York Golden Blades, and Jersey Knights.

Description: San Diego Conquistadors were the first and only expansion team in the American Basketball Association, playing from 1972 to 1975. Frank Goldberg (who formerly held ownership interest in the Denver Nuggets) bought the San Diego Conquistadors, assuming the $2 million team debt. They soon renamed the team, becoming the San Diego Sails. However, they folded 11 games into the season.
