Description: The Dick Turpin Highwayman Design is inspired by Richard O'Sullivan's portrayal of the infamous horse thief and highwayman Richard 'Dick' Turpin. Hanged for horse theft in 1739, the criminal exploits of Dick Turpin became highly romanticised in the following centuries which ultimately led to the Richard O'Sullivan starring swashbuckling TV adventure which ran for 4 series in the late 70s, early 80s.
