Description: A strange transmission from the psychedelic side of Los Angeles: a richly illustrated Arthur Lee portrait surrounded by fractured sunshine, botanical forms and late-sixties poster energy. Description: WASP is an American heavy metal band formed in 1982, emerging from the early 1980s Los Angeles heavy metal scene. The band's popularity peaked that decade, yet they continued to record and tour, making them one of the most enduring of the West Coast metal bands. WASP gained notoriety for their shock rock-themed image, lyrics, and live performances. The band was a prominent target of the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), an organization that pushed for warning labels on recorded music in the '80s.
Description: A tribute to late-night record hunting on the Sunset Strip, when glowing storefronts, packed CD racks, vinyl bins and music obsessives made Sunset Boulevard feel like the center of the music universe. This distressed 2000-era graphic celebrates 30 years of legendary record-store culture with a giant vinyl sunset, palm-lined Los Angeles streets and an after-dark vintage shop aesthetic. Made for crate diggers, record collectors and anyone who remembers when discovering an album meant spending hours inside a real music store.
Description: $5 cover, no backstage, no alcohol, coffee for a $1, and all-ages all the time is Jabberjaw Cafe in a nutshell. Located at 3711 Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles, Jabberjaw opened in 1989 as a coffee bar and morphed into a legendary music venue when a low stage that you almost tripped over as you entered was added. Things started out with some acoustic acts, but after the first electric act performed, the coffee bar quickly became more of a live music venue. Jabberjaw was the space to play for bands that did not want to participate in L.A.'s pay-to-play scene, and with a standing rule of no corporate rock, only the coolest indie bands were booked, helping Jabberjaw create a scene of its own, far away from the Sunset Strip.

Description: After leaving the Army on a medical discharge in 1952, a 19-year-old Norm Grabowski built a hot rod based on a shortened 1922 Model T touring car mated to a similarly shortened Model A truck bed. With a powerful OHV engine from his parents' sedan, the vehicle that resulted had a unique appearance and stance, which inspired many hot rods created afterward. The car was first featured on the cover of the October 1955 issue of Hot Rod and then underwent further modifications, including a greater rake, tilted windshield and blue paint with flames. Grabowski's hugely influential hot rod became known as the 'Kookie Kar' after it was used in the television show 77 Sunset Strip, and driven by the character Kookie in just about every episode.
