Description: In 1949 E. C. Joullian formed Westoc Oil and Gas and began construction of a pipeline to supply natural gas from the West Edmond gas field to Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company’s (OG&E) new Mustang Power plant. On May 5, 1950, Westoc began operations of Mustang’s first pipeline. In 1951, E.C. Joullian formed Rock Creek Oil and Gas to build a pipeline from Sohio Oil Company’s Elmore gas plant to OG&E’s new Arbuckle power plant and this pipeline became operational in April 1953. During the remainder of the decade Westoc was merged into a new company called Oklahoma Resources Development Company which then merged with Rock Creek Oil and Gas to form Mustang Fuel Corporation.
Description: Inspired by the amazing work done by Psygnosis, Sony Liverpool and of course the late Designers Republic on the Wipeout series of games, this is an attempt to take the overtly futuristic aesthetic of the series’ logos and revert them to a more traditional, automotive design language. In other words, it’s as if Wipeout was set in the 50s. Cool huh?
Description: Atlantic was founded as the Atlantic Petroleum Storage Company in 1866 in the then-fledgling oil business. In 1874, the company, now known as Atlantic Refining, was purchased by John D. Rockefeller and integrated as part of Standard Oil. The acquisition gave Rockefeller a major presence on the East Coast in his growing empire. In 1886, after acquiring many other oil companies, the Standard Oil Trust organized territories for their companies. Atlantic's territory covered the entire state of Delaware, the southern half of New Jersey, and the southeasternmost corner of Pennsylvania, essentially giving Atlantic the entire Philadelphia area.
Description: Conoco Inc. is a defunct American oil company founded by Isaac Elder Blake in 1875 as the Continental Oil and Transportation Company. It is now a brand of gasoline and service station in the United States which belongs to Phillips 66 following the spin-off of ConocoPhillips' downstream assets in May 2012.
Description: Wm. Penn was a gas brand of Canfield Oil Company of Cleveland, Ohio. SOHIO purchased it in 1945, but the Wm. Penn brand remained. In the 1970s, BP purchased SOHIO and rebranded some BP stations in the eastern U.S. to Wm. Penn. The brand remained until around 1990, when they were rebranded to BP.
Description: Now a publicly traded Canadian company with global interests, Husky Energy was founded in 1938 in Cody, Wyoming (USA) as the Husky Refining Company, with the acquisition by Glenn Nielsen of assets of the 4-year-old Park Refining Company from founder Valentine Monroe Kirk. The first refinery was in Cody, with a second constructed later in Riverton, Wyoming. In 1946, the Company relocated to Canada, with the Riverton refinery moved to Lloydminster, Alberta to take advantage of the expanding asphalt and heavy oil opportunities in the area. A wholly owned subsidiary, Husky Oil and Refining Ltd., was created and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Cody refinery continued operations well into the 1970s, producing primarily asphalt.
