Description: Caversham bridge, built in 1926, spanning the River Thames at Reading in Berkshire, England. It connects Reading with Caversham on the river's north bank. There has been a bridge here since the 1100s and in 1231 it is mentioned by Henry III who notes the presence of a chapel on the bridge on the side owned by William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke. Description: Looking over from the moorings on the Henley (Oxfordshire) side of the River Thames to the Remenham (Berkshire) side where the crew' tents and grandstands are being erected for Henley's annual Royal Regatta. This prestigious event which attracts rowers and spectators from home and abroad has been ongoing since 1839. The 'Royal' addition to its name came when Prince Albert became patron, a position taken on by all reigning monarchs since then. The Regatta lasts for five days at the start of July.
