Originally known as the Missileman Badge, the Missile Badge later became known as the Missileer Badge or more informally the Pocket Rocket and is still often referred to by this name. Description: McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is tandem two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber. It entered service in 1960 with the USN, it was also adopted by the USMC & USAF, and by the mid-1960s had become a major part of their air arms. F-4 is fighter with top speed of over Mach 2.2. In 1959, it set 15 world records for in-flight performance, including absolute speed record & absolute altitude record. F-4 was used extensively during the Vietnam War. F-4 formed major part of US air power throughout the 70s & 80s, being gradually replaced by more modern aircrafts. F-4 remained in use by the US in the recon & Wild Weasel roles in Gulf War, leaving service in 1996. F-4 was also used in 11 nations.
