Description: According to Scandinavian mythology, each of the virgins, daughters and messengers of the god of war, Odin, who had the mission to choose the heroes or the strongest fighters killed in combat to take them to Valhalla (Odin's paradise). According to legend, they were virgin warriors who rode on horses, boars or wolves, armed with spears and wearing helmets with the mission to protect Odin — supreme chief of the kingdom of Asgard, where the Norse gods dwell. The word "valkyrie" means "to choose the dead".
