This striking red-and-black Soviet poster, designed in 1967 by V. Kalensky, stages the revolution as a living command rather than a past event: a forward-pointing figure fills the frame while the slogan surges behind him in turbulent lettering, turning words into atmosphere and momentum. The text translates to: "The dead of the Paris Commune have risen again under the red banner of the Soviets!” In essence, the artwork claims that the defeated revolutionaries of Paris Commune of 1871 have been vindicated by the October Revolution, and that the martyrs live on through the new Soviet Union.
