Roaming the Great Plains, the bison is an icon of the American West. Its massive size & ambling gait can make it quite a traffic obstruction too! If you've ever driven the Black Hills, Custer State Park or Yellowstone National Park, you've likely seen long lines of cars following a herd of buffalo in no hurry at all. These traffic jams let you look from a safe distance, but it's all too common to see a tourist get far too close in search of a photo.
