Undine (Bluebird Photoplays, 1916) Sticker

Adapted from the fairy tale of the same name by the German writer Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué, Undine holds the distinct honor of being the first feature length mermaid film. Lead by athletic beauty Ida Schnall, who is historically considered the greatest Jewish athlete of all time, (and was barred from the 1912 Olympic Games due to her ethnic heritage), this dreamy fantasy film has very few vestiges left that assert its existence, since the film is presumed to be lost.
