The Southern End Of Thirlmere Sticker

The view from the water's edge at Thirlmere's southern end, looking across to the fells leading up to the Helvellyn range. These lakeside spots are reached by taking the narrow western road which follows the edge of the lake. From here parking bays give access to woodland trails leading down to the shoreline. Thirlmere, created by the Manchester Corporation in the late 1800s as a water supply, is 3.5 miles long and is about 158 feet deep when full. The lake is part of Cumbria's Lake District.
