The 20s

Rialto Records was a record label based in Chicago, Illinois in the 1920s. It was owned by the Rialto Music House (330 S State St), sold at their stores at promotional prices. The records themselves were pressed by Marsh Recording Laboratories (Suite 625 Kimball Building, 306 South Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois). The most famous record they produced was the only release known of Jelly Roll Morton's unaccompanied recording of "London Blues," made in 1924.

Is she a flapper? I dunno! Maybe. She’s wearing a snazzy dress anyway, peak of fashion for 1923-ish. Big hat, big belt, big heart. And some sweet kidskin gloves. I love 1920s silhouettes on fat figures, because all the fashion plates and famous figures from the era were very slim. But there were fat people, and some of them were really fashionable because why wouldn’t they be? Get your Gatsby on with this design. No background, for those less is more type friends.

Hell’s Kitchen mobster Larry Fay ran a bootlegging racket running whiskey from Canada to New York in his fleet of city cabs. He opened El Fay on 45th Street to help unload the booze fresh from the north, and hired once-customer Texas Guinan as the boisterous hostess of the club.

Felix the Cat is a children's comedy cartoon character created in 1919 by Pat Sullivan and Otto Messmer during the silent film era. An anthropomorphic black cat with white eyes, a black body, and a giant grin, he is one of the most recognized cartoon characters in film history. Felix was the first animated character to attain a level of popularity sufficient to draw movie audiences.

The Art Deco era holds a plethora of commercial design during a period of extraordinary creative vitality. Reflecting French popular culture at the height of its inveterate flair and exuberant joie de vivre. The design industry was and still is a large part of french culture. This timeless logo celebrates the beauty and simplicity of French Graphic Design from the 1930s.
