John Bandimere, Sr. built his first race car in 1937, an old coupe running a flathead V8, which he raced in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb to a ninth place finish. Always known as an innovator, Bandimere went on to become a nationally known expert on supercharging, and began manufacturing and selling speed parts as Bandimere Auto Parts in Denver, Colorado. In 1958, Bandimere purchased land just west of Denver, where he and his family began constructing a drag strip that was to be used to augment their auto parts business. That small drag strip on the hill would become Bandimere Speedway, or as many call it, Thunder Mountain. The drag strip would grow and eventually eclipse the speed shop, with Bandimere focusing on its operation full time.

Like a lot of people in post-war America, Al Jerauld was an avid hot rodder looking for go fast thrills. He opened Jerauld's Speed Shop in the late '40s in National City, California. From catalog speed parts to many of his own creation, Jerauld's Speed Shop was the go-to spot in the San Diego area for go fast goodies. When he wasn't selling parts and installing them on customer cars, Al was a dry lakes racer who built and campaigned several cars over the years. One such lakester was the infamous Baby Bomb, which sported a destroked and sleeved '37 V8-60 Flathead with a tiny 88.75 cubic inch displacement that managed to turn some impressive speeds. Among Jerauld's many custom designed performance parts, many are still highly prized today.

With the post-war auto racing boom in full swing, the custom ignition business Chuck Potvin started in high school quickly outgrew his parent's garage. In 1948 Chuck purchased a corner shop and decked it out with cam grinders, a homemade master cam generator, a dynamometer, and several lathes and began crafting his own cam grinds that, like his ignition systems, found a sweet spot in the market. While he made countless models over the years, the most popular was the 425 Eliminator, the cam that the first car to break the 160 mph barrier was running.

Tilsit cheese or Tilsiter cheese is a pale yellow semihard smear-ripened cheese, created in the mid-19th century by Prussian-Swiss settlers, the Westphal family, from the Emmental Valley. The original buildings from the cheese plant still exist in Sovetsk, Russia, formerly Tilsit, on the Neman River (also known as the Memel), in the former German province of East Prussia. Tilsiter has a medium-firm texture with irregular holes or cracks. Commercially produced Tilsiter is made from pasteurized cow's milk, ranges from 30 to 60% milkfat, and has a dark yellow rind. After the main part of its production, the cheese needs to rest for an additional 2 months.
