Taken on one of my Top End Photography Tours, at Yellow Waters in Kakadu National Park. There is nothing like seeing a big croc up close to let you know you are in wild territory...and they are great at smiling for the camera!

Wombats are sweet, waddling, robust marsupials. And did you know, they have cube-shaped poop? Fun fact.

Nothing more Australian than Kangaroo. A few live on the vineyard at Magpie Springs they are quite wild. Early morning /evening when its quiet they come round the house.

The word “kangaroo” derives from the Guugu Yimithirr word gangurru, referring to grey kangaroos. The world famous red kangaroo is the largest marsupial and the largest Australian mammal, with some males standing at two metres tall, and weighing around 85 kilograms. They are found across central Australia in all states and territories except Tasmania. They prefer semi-arid plains, grasslands, woodlands and open forests. According to an Aboriginal legend, the kookaburra’s famous chorus of laughter every morning is a signal for the sky people to light the great fire that illuminates and warms the earth by day. The laughing kookaburra is the world’s largest kingfisher and is native to eastern mainland Australia. This photo was taken in Sydney, Australia on a Nikon Coolpix P610.

The koala gets its name from an ancient Aboriginal word meaning “no drink” because it receives over 90% of its hydration from the Eucalyptus leaves (also known as gum leaves) it eats, and only drinks when ill or times when there is not enough moisture in the leaves. The koala is found in coastal areas of the mainland’s eastern and southern regions, inhabiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
