Chacon used a heavy body barrage early in the bout that appeared to slow down the Mexico City fighter. Chacon picked up the pace in the final two rounds and scored at will with combinations and counter-punches in the final round to earn the decision. Chacon, of Oroville, went down in the first round from a right-hand punch and was bloodied in the fifth from a cut over one eye. But Frias, of Los Angeles, was stopped at 2:03 in the seventh round. Chacon snapped his opponent’s head back with a right, then went to the body, and the bout was stopped with Frias helpless against the ropes. Chacon (57-7-1) is a two-time world champion in the featherweight and super-featherweight divisions. Frias (28-5) is a former world lightweight champion.

Born in Kampala, Uganda, he fought in both the super-featherweight and lightweight divisions. He emigrated from Uganda to England, where he lived for a long period. He now lives in the United States, where he trains other boxers.
