Description: The Cumberland Brewing Co. opened their doors in 1890 in Cumberland, Maryland, and operated for 30 years before closing in 1920 with the advent of prohibition. Culmbacher Holiday Beer was a seasonal brew Cumberland produced for consumption in the fall and winter months when a heartier beer might seem warranted. Similar to most Münchener beers of the 1800s, Culmbacher (from the Bavarian Kulmbacher) was a dark lager, but it was much, much darker, and unlike most beers of the era, it was quite heavily hopped and a great deal stronger. Whether you're a fan of really obscure beers or just need a 'holiday shirt' to wear to a dumb holiday party that you don't want to go to, this one is just for you!
