Description: Ekranoplan- Caspian Sea Monster

Description: This large Wing in ground effect craft, also known as Ekranoplan is desgined to fly in very close proximity to the water, taking advantage of the aerodynamic effect found in ground effect. It was designed by the Navy to carry large payloads over long distances.

Description: Six anti-ship missile launchers ride atop the Soviet Lun-class ekranoplan's boat-like hull as it skims just above the waves on ground effect alone. Nicknamed the Caspian Sea Monster, this Cold War oddity blazes across a swirling Van Gogh-style night sky lit by a crescent moon.
