St Margaret's in Burnham Norton (apparently meaning North Town) is one of the round towered churches typical of Norfolk. It is one of the six surviving medieval churches in the Burnham area, the round tower displaying much of its Norman origins. In the churchyard is buried Richard Woodget, master of the sailing clipper Cutty Sark which can be seen at Greenwich, London. Cromer pier is a grade 2 listed pier, reflecting onto the wet sand, along with the Hotel De Paris, Cromer, North Norfolk, UK. which is also a grade 2 listed building. A beautiful coastal scene just after the sun had set.

H. & J. Pfaff Brewing Co. opened in 1893 and closed in 1901 it was open for 8 years. This brewery was open for quite a few years so it is easier to find items and advertising than some breweries that did not last long, this can make the Breweriana items less valuable. As a Pre-Prohibition Brewery, any advertising items or collectibles are likely to be valuable and desirable to collectors as they tend to be hard to find. H. & J. Pfaff Brewing Co. was in an active brewing city. Boston, MA was listed as having 48 breweries, which is quite a few. Sometimes a large number of breweries can lead to an active collecting community that will be willing to pay more for breweriana items than other collectors.

The Norfolk Broads is a stubbing place at any time of year - but particularly so in the winter, when afternoon light is short and the place has a lonely deserted feel about it. The area is littered with disused windmills once used to pump water from the land, but now in various states of disrepair, since electronic pumps took over. Most are mere stumps (like the one in the background here), but Berney Arms has been restored. To reach here, there is one train a day that stops at the tiny platform, or you use a boat, or you walk a few miles along the embankment. Sheringham sunset

This is the the third of my Berney Arms paintings repainted twenty years after I originally did them. This one shows the walk in winter along the river bank heading East through the less frequented part of the Norfolk Broads towards Great Yarmouth. Berney Arms is still out of sight at this point, but two more derelict windmills greet you as you follow the river. Like any scene in a flat landscape it is dominated by the sky-scape. Norwich Castle

I was on a trip to walk some of the North Norfolk Coast, and on this day strode along the beach between Sheringham and Cromer at low tide. The sky was moody and a stiff cold wind was blowing when I took the picture of Cromer from West Runton. I thought it suited pastels best, and so I produced this A4 image on black card in pastel.
