During the late '80s, nearly 2.5 million people visited the park annually. Billed as the "Home of American Music," Opryland USA featured a large number of musical shows along with typical amusement park rides, such as roller coasters. Description: Opryland USA, also known as Opryland Themepark and commonly referred to as simply "Opryland", was a beloved theme park in suburban Nashville, Tennessee. Operating from 1972 to 1997, the park was open seasonally from March through October, and featured a special Christmas-themed event each December from 1993 to 1997. Despite its popularity and cultural significance, Opryland USA closed in 1997 to make way for retail development, but it remains a nostalgic symbol of Nashville's entertainment history.
Description: The Nashville Network (TNN), was an American country music-oriented cable television network launched as a basic cable and satellite TV channel on March 7, 1983. Operating from the now-defunct Opryland USA theme park near Nashville, Tennessee, TNN was the first country music cable television network, beating their nearest competitor by two days. Programming included music videos, taped concerts, movies, game shows, syndicated programs, and numerous talk shows. On September 25, 2000, after an attempt to attract younger viewers failed, TNN's country music format was changed, and the network was renamed The National Network, which only lasted a few years before going off the air for good.
