Description: Lubczyk (say: LOOB-chick) is lovage, the old Polish herb "for being loved": planted by the door, slipped into a bath, carried close to the heart. Here it wraps a silver votive heart with a burning flame, between wormwood, mugwort and rue. Drawn as a mezzotint, light scraped out of the dark. Description: Strzyga (say: STSHIH-gah) is a demon of Polish folklore, said to be born with two hearts, two souls and a double row of teeth. To keep her away, old Polish households scattered poppy seed crosswise in every corner of the house - such demons, the belief went, must stop and count every small grain. Original engraving-style artwork: a moonlit doorway, raised claws, and a cross of poppy seed on the threshold. The version for light garments is here: https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/99634672
Description: A folk papercut crown for every granddaughter Babcia ever spoiled. The word on top is ksiezniczka, Polish for princess, and the line at the bottom spells out how to say it: kshenzh-neech-kah. The crown is cut like a Polish wycinanka, with a tulip in the middle and no royal crosses. Two colors, cobalt and cream. Its partner in the same line is Too Slavic for That.
