Railway Stickers

Named after Sir Nigel Gresley, one of Britain's most famous steam locomotive engineers, this A4 class steam train entered service in 1937 and was retired in 1966, since when it's been maintained by a group of dedicated steam train enthusiasts. Seen here steaming out of Grosmont in the North York Moors Railway towards Pickering it is painted in 'wartime black' and shows it's original engine number of 4498

A digital coloured pencil drawing of the Ribblehead Viaduct as crosses Batty Moss in the Ribble Valley, North Yorkshire carrying the Settle-Carlisle line. It sits just south of Whernside, the highest peak in Yorkshire, the lower slopes visible in the background. This amazing construction was designed by the Midland Railway's Chief Engineer, John Sydney Crossley. The last stone was laid by the end of 1874, and on 1st May 1876 the whole line opened for passenger traffic.

The Camps Viaduct (built 1820) in Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, West Lothian, Scotland. Closed about 1960, the Viaduct used to carry the line from the Shale Oil works at Pumpherston to the North British Railway at Camps. It is now part of the National Cycle Network route 75, and provides magnificent views of the river from above. The park is a semi wild nature retreat open to all. This is an HDR version. The Ribblehead Viaduct - a spectacular example of Victorian engineering crossing Batty Moss in the Ribble Valley, North Yorkshire carrying the Settle-Carlisle line. The amazing construction was designed by the Midland Railway's Chief Engineer, John Sydney Crossley. The last stone was laid by the end of 1874, and on 1st May 1876 the whole line opened for passenger traffic. The construction used a workforce of 2300 men of which over 100 unfortunately lost their lives.

A scenic path leads round its shores and on the eastern side runs the Brecon Mountain Railway.

Two Hunslet Austerity tank engines with a rake of dogfish ballast wagons photographed in the Royal Forest of Dean. The lead engine is Jessie built in 1937, she spent all her working life at the East Moors steelworks in Cardiff as no 18 in the fleet. The second engine is Rennes a War Department engine built in 1944, number WD 152 and operated on the Longmoor Military Railway (LMR). This engine worked for the National Coal Board from 1961, ending its career in South Wales as No. 8 at the Mountain Ash colliery in 1979.
