Schoolhouse Rock! is an American interstitial programming series of animated musical educational short films (and later, videos) that aired during the Saturday morning children's programming block on the U.S. television network ABC. The themes covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics. The series' original run lasted from 1973 to 1984; it was later revived with both old and new episodes airing from 1993 to 1996.

The show is set in the fictional American city of Elwood City, and revolves around the lives of eight-year-old Arthur Read, an anthropomorphic aardvark, his friends and family, and their daily interactions with each other.

Dino Boy is a young boy called Todd who parachuted out of a crashing plane with his parents still on board. He lands in an unknown South American valley where dinosaurs, cavemen, and prehistoric mammals somehow have survived alongside some strange creatures and various tribes like the Moss Men, the Rock Pygmies, the Worm People and the Vampire Men, amongst others. Dino Boy then meets the caveman Ugh (who saves Dino Boy from a Smilodon when he first arrives) and his pet baby Brontosaurus Bronty who become his friends in the episodes to come. The cartoon also features a woolly mammoth named Tusko who Ugh would enlist in certain episodes to help him, Dino Boy, and Bronty out.

Filmation was the production company for the series. The show premiered in 1972 and ran until 1985 (with new episodes being produced sporadically during that time frame). The show, based on Cosby's remembrances of his childhood gang, centered on Fat Albert (known for his catchphrase "Hey hey hey!"), and his friends who routinely gathered in a North Philadelphia junkyard to play a song on their cobbled-together instruments.

The Herculoids is a Saturday morning cartoon series that ran between 1967 and 1969, with a revival in 1981 as part of the Space Stars show. The story takes place on the planet Amzot (renamed Quasar in the revival), the space barbarian family Zandor, Tara and son Dorno fight alongside their giant pets the Herculoids—laser dragon Zok, space rhinoceros Tundro, rock ape Igoo and the shape-shifting Gloop and his son Gleep—to keep their planet safe from invading robots, mad scientists and mutants. The Herculoids themselves possessed human-level intelligence, understood human speech, and often displayed various emotions. The diverse team fought an endless battle against a stream of villains including, the Faceless People, Destroyer Ants, and more.

Ghostbusters (later called Filmation's Ghostbusters) is a 1986 American animated television series created by Filmation and distributed by Tribune Entertainment, serving as the sequel to Filmation's 1975 live-action television show The Ghost Busters. It is not to be confused with the 1984 film, Ghostbusters, or that film's subsequent animated television show, The Real Ghostbusters, which premiered five days later. The series followed Jake Kong Jr. and Eddie Spencer Jr., sons of the original Ghost Busters from the live-action comedy series of the same name, along with Tracy the Gorilla, who had worked with their fathers. Their headquarters, termed Ghost Command, is located in a haunted mansion nestled between a number of tall skyscrapers.

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a short story in Rudyard Kipling's 1894 collection about the adventures of a valiant young Indian grey mongoose in India. Based on the classic mongoose and snake fable, the story has been anthologized and published multiple times, and been made into animated features. This design is based on the 1975 cartoon version that American audiences are most familiar with. The story focuses on an English family living in India who discovers a mongoose residing on the estate. They decide to keep him as a pet, in the hopes that he will keep them safe from the many cobras that live in the surrounding jungle. Their new pet quickly begins earning his keep, as two cobras make the family their new target.

Top Cat is an American animated sitcom produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and originally broadcast in prime-time on the ABC network. It aired in a weekly evening timeslot from September 27, 1961 to April 18, 1962 for a single season of 30 episodes.

A meme has been circulating featuring an offbeat cartoon character standing in a freezer. Above this, it states: “It’s February 1976, and this weirdo who looks like he has jaundice just came on TV in the middle of cartoons and told me to fill our ice cube trays with orange juice.” This comical meme shows just how much an entire generation remembers a unique character named Timer.
