“A spirit of national masochism prevails, encouraged by an effete corps of impudent snobs who characterize themselves as intellectuals.” This design refers to a statement made by Spiro Agnew, Richard Nixon’s Vice President, on October 19, 1969. His words were in regards to anti-war protestors at the height of the Vietnam War and said protestors were quick to embrace the 'Effete Snob' label through t-shirts, buttons, and banners that could be seen during their protests and demonstrations.

I'd make a joke like "Yeah, no shit, cause he didn't show up to the voting booth either," but...ya know. Whether or not this door hanger made the difference in that election, it definitely made it's way into the Halloween Shindig Vault. So you too can own this strange piece of Presidential ephemera, now available on like mugs ans t-shirts and shit.

Spiro Theodore Agnew ( November 9, 1918 – September 17, 1996) was an American politician who served as the 39th Vice President of the United States from 1969 to 1973, under President Richard Nixon. Agnew soon found his role as the voice of the so-called "silent majority," and by late 1969 he was ranking high on national "Most Admired Men" polls.
