In the 60s, police officers would hang signs that said "this is a raided premises" on the doors and walls of suspected secret gay hang out spots. Designating them as businesses that were often victims of police raids. Businesses like the infamous stonewall Inn, where the stonewall riots occurred. Remember the first pride was a riot.

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Commemorate the POCs and Drag Queens that stood up in New York City for LGBTQI rights in 1969 at World Pride in NYC.

Commodification isn't liberation. No companies at pride. No cops at pride. The first pride parade was a riot, after all.

It features a rainbow graphic resembling seismic waves and the slogan "Shakin' It Up!" likely as a reference to San Francisco's many earthquakes. San Francisco hosts one of the oldest pride celebrations in the country, with a rich history that dates back to 1970, the year after the Stonewall Riots. Earlier iterations of the event were held under the name Gay Freedom Day and International Lesbian & Gay Freedom Day, but the title changed over time to accommodate a wider range of LGBT identities until it was eventually just called Pride.
