Among some of the closest cities to the park are Indio, Palm Desert, and Palm Springs. Originally declared a national monument in 1936, Joshua Tree was redesignated as a national park in 1994 when the U.S. Congress passed the California Desert Protection Act.
Description: This design is inspired by the traditional Mexican Tree of Life folk art sculptures. They traditionally depict scenes of Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden with the serpent and apple, but modern versions feature all types of symbols. This Tree of Life features Mother Nature and nature’s children, animals and fruit symbolising life and abundance, serpents which are danger, and skeletons representing the death and the afterlife.
