Never forget. This mermaid piece is dedicated to all veterans, living and dead, for their service and sacrifice.This mermaid is based on a relative of mine who served as a nurse during WWII (and even out of war as that was her occupation before and after the fact) so the mermaid looks a little like her as my way to honor her in a happy and inspiring moment. I gave her the mask and shield because in the past and even now, superheroes come in many forms. I plan on donating my proceeds towards any of the following three organizations - the Fisher House Foundation, the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park, and/or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
